Introduction

In 1997 the author of this article started a systematic investigation of the possibility of the existence and possible therapeutic use of several ECIWO-systems along all the different 12 main meridians where they pass along the metacarpal or metatarsal bones. The results of the preliminary treatments were promising, and the author has in the last years used solely these points in treatment, and almost no traditional acupuncture points. His results has been no less than before, but faster, steadier and in some patients (diagnostic groups) much better, especially in treating cancer and hormonal disbalances.

History

After treating cancer in both humans and dogs since 1984 (described both in my book on alternative medicine (Thoresen 2002 1)), and in two articles in  Zeitschrift Für Ganzheitliche Tiermedizin (Thoresen  2003 2) , Thoresen 2008 3)  ) and in one article in The Journal of the Norwegian Veterinary Society (Thoresen 1995 4)), I stumbled over the astonishing observation that the results in the healing of cancer were much better when I used some special points, found by the sensitivity of my fingertips. First I called them after the nearest acupuncture point, like LV03-T (-T meant my interpretation of the location of the point, and it was situated close to LV03 (1 cm. distal)), and thought, in my ignorance, that the Chinese had been wrong in this point location. But after some time I realised that these points were just ECIWO-points, showing up when there was disease in certain organs and places (Schjelderup 1998 5)).

This led me after some years to see the grand system in these points, and starting to use them I got better and faster results in cancer, in hormonal problems and in joint problems. In several other diagnoses the results were as good as when I used the traditional points. It seems to me that in functional problems the ECIWO-points are as good as the traditional acupuncture points, but when there are physical changes in the tissues, the ECIWO-points give better results.

This system combines thus the effect of the meridians as in TCM with the more localised and physical effect using ECIWO-systems as described by Dr. Paul Nogier 6)(in Auriculo medicine).

The method

The method combines the treatment of the deficient meridian (Thoresen 2000 6)) with treatment of the symptom carrying area as in ear-acupuncture, thus combining causal therapy with symptomatic therapy, all in one needle.

The one needle is placed, dry needling and no stimulation, left in citu for 20 minutes, at the very point reflecting the symptom carrying area at the deficient meridian, in the area where this meridian passes the metacarpal or metatarsal bone.

The deficient meridian may be found with the help of pulse diagnosis, and the ECIWO-point may be found by the help of the Nogier pulse (RAC or VAS).

The areas talked about will in the hand be like in picture 1.

Discussion

My preliminary conclusions so far is that combining meridian treatment of the deficient meridian with the treatment of the symptom correlating ECIWO-point, will in diseases where both an unbalanced energetic of the body is present and a change in tissues (trauma, wound, cancer), the use of this method may give better results than just TCM acupuncture alone.

Treatment of the symptom carrying ECIWO-point of the excessive meridian is not tried in this investigation, but I suppose from the few patients where this is tried, that the conclusions would be the same here.
